FC Malaga City Under 19s midfielder Alessandro Briggs shared his excitement ahead of tomorrow morning’s fixture against Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
FC Malaga City Under 19s will face FC Barcelona Juvenil at 10:30 tomorrow morning, at the world-famous La Masia training centre.
Briggs believes the team are “ready” for the challenge ahead, and are excited to test themselves against the world’s best.
“We are all counting down the minutes and we can’t wait to get out there,” he said.
“There isn't a more sacred shrine of football than FC Barcelona, Camp Nou and La Masia.
“This is a really big opportunity for all of us, both as individuals - and for the academy as a whole.
“We’re ready for the challenge ahead and we believe in ourselves.
“When I was 10 years old, I was invited to train at La Masia for two weeks.
“Going back aged 18, I am thrilled to measure myself against some of the best in the world.
“La Masia has been home to some of the game’s best players - so I’m really excited to test myself against them and see first-hand the standard I need to be.
“We have to be realistic - and we’re not all going into the game expecting to be signed.
“We need to hold our own against them and do ourselves justice.”
Briggs, who is into his fourth season playing in Spain, insists his first campaign with FC Malaga City Academy has helped him develop and learn.
“Despite the pandemic, I have never trained harder or played so many matches to keep in form.
“This has been my fourth season in Spain and by far the best development. “I learned that team chemistry is vitally important to personal growth. “I have really enjoyed my time with FC Malaga City Academy so far and am excited for the future.”
