CD Almuñecar City are delighted to announce the appointment of George Jermy - as the club’s new Head Coach.
The 33-year-old has agreed to join the club as Head Coach for the 2021/22 season - with Victor Franco appointed as Assistant Head Coach.
Jermy has been associated with CD Almuñecar City for over four years, leading the team to a double promotion as player-manager in 2018 and 2019.
George and Victor are both modern coaches with exciting, attacking football as their philosophies - and are both UEFA Pro license holders respectively.
Previous CD Almuñecar City coaches Juan Carlos Añon and Rafa Montenegro will now take over the reigns at FC Malaga City Senior - as they enter their first season in Division de Hónor following last campaign’s promotion.
George Jermy commented “I’m really excited and proud to be appointed Head Coach of CD Almuñecar City.
“Our vision is clear, and we are determined to reach Tercera Division as soon as possible.
“CD Almuñecar City has always been massively special to me - and it is a club for the people.
“We haven’t got a wealthy backer or huge grants behind us, but we do have a connection with the local people who’ve really got on board - which is much more valuable.
“Before the COVID-19 lockdown, we had a great connection with supporters - and achieved attendances of between 400 and 600 supporters each week - and an amazing match day experience - which is something we are looking to enhance.
“It’s going to be great to work with Victor Franco again. We have a close personal relationship and our ideas bounce well off each other.
“To have someone who is so prominent in the town is amazing, and he is a person who knows what the badge means - and it means more to him than an ordinary football club.
“Working with someone with his passion alongside you is a real driving force - and he is the ideal person to be working with me.
“Last season, we decided to go down a development route with the team - and huge credit goes to Juan Carlos and the players, who were amazing with such a young team in that league.
“CD Almuñecar City will be a bit more of an experienced look this season.
“We will be recruiting players that have played at higher levels and are keen to stay in a professional-style environment and buy into what we are looking to do.
“We will also be looking to find the best local Spanish players from Almuñecar and beyond to bring them through the youth system and into the first team.
“Victor and I, alongside our other support staff, are excited to build a project that the town and the club deserves.”
Victor Franco said: “I’m so proud to be back at CD Almuñecar City, a club which is very close to my heart.
“I am now entering my fourth season with the club, and am very excited for the season ahead.
“We are determined to achieve promotion - and confident that we can build a strong squad for the new campaign.
“To be working again with George is a real privilege. Our first season together was hugely successful, after achieving promotion with five games still remaining in the league.
“Almuñecar is my town, and I have lived here all my life, so I am really keen to connect the club with supporters from around the town.
“I’m excited to have supporters back in the stadium and I want to create a real togetherness amongst everybody.”
