Congratulations to FC Malaga City Academy graduate Nick Paige, who started for CD Vázquez Cultural yesterday afternoon against Malaga CF.
Paige, who joined FC Malaga City Academy at the beginning of the season, signed with the Marbella-based side in December following a successful trial period.
The Arizona-born midfielder will also face Granada CF later this week, as CD Vázquez Cultural continue their Division de Hónor campaign.
George Jermy, Academy Director at FC Malaga City Academy, spoke of his pride at seeing Nick thrive in Division de Hónor - the highest level of Spanish youth football.
"We're all delighted to see Nick doing so well with CD Vázquez Cultural - a club at the highest level of Spanish U19s football with an outstanding reputation for youth development," said Jermy.
"Nick joined us in August, and stood out to us straight away with his ability and attitude.
"He works hard every day in training, and we knew that when the opportunity arose with a club - he would take it with both hands.
"Signing with CD Vázquez Cultural is a real testament to Nick and his family - and we're really proud to see him thriving."
Speaking after the game, Paige revealed it is an "exciting" opportunity to sign with CD Vázquez Cultural - and explained how being with FC Malaga City Academy helped his development.
"To have signed for Vázquez is hugely exciting and a really proud moment for me," he said.
"Signing with a Division de Hónor club so early into my time with the academy was unexpected, but a real moment of joy.
"It feels like the hard work has paid off, but I know I have a lot more to work on and I will keep learning.
"Being with FC Malaga City Academy has been a great experience so far. It has helped me fitness-wise and technically across my whole game.
"Training every day with great coaches has allowed me to improve massively. Even after practice, coaches are there to talk to 24/7 if you ever need any help."
