FC Malaga City Academy are delighted to announce the appointment of Victor 'Viti' Barbado as Head Coach of our Under 17s squad.
Since the beginning of the year, the academy has undergone a restructure and is now split into three different squads; U17s, U18s and U19s. The restructure allows players to enjoy more playing time whilst also providing an enhanced development strategy within the club.
Viti has been named as our Under 17s Head Coach, alongside his assistant coaches Diego Sanchez, Brandon Gomez and Marco DeVito.
He joined the club at the beginning of the season, taking over as Director of Football at our senior team CD Almuñecar City where he will continue with his current role.
A UEFA A License Holder, Viti holds an outstanding reputation within the game and has experience working as Director of Football at Tercera Divisíon clubs Motril CF and CD San Roque de Lepe.
Starting his new role at the end of January, Viti has already led FC Malaga City Under 17s to an impressive win over Bradford City and our players are already reaping the benefits of his guidance.
George Jermy, Academy Director, commented: "Viti is a massively important figure within our academy; he works tirelessly to organise placements for our players and is an essential cog in our system.
Viti has always expressed his desire to work with players on the field rather than watching from the sidelines, so this role is a match made in heaven.
He's been attending intensive English lessons over the past six months to improve communication; we're delighted with his enthusiasm towards the role and how the players have taken so positively to the changes."
