Briggs Delighted With Puerto de Motril Victory

Winger Alessandro Briggs expressed his delight as the FC Málaga City Under-19 side continued their winning start to the season with a 4-0 victory at home to Puerto de Motríl Juvenil.

Briggs opened the scoring with a terrific penalty in the 38th-minute and rounded off the scoring with a headed finish late in the game.

The #FCMC team are now two wins from two in the two in Cuarta Andaluza Juvenil (Granada), and Briggs said keeping the clean-sheet was a big thing for the Under-19 side.

“It’s a great feeling,” he said. “I tried to put the most in for the team because I want to be dangerous every game and just do the most I can for the team to try and get the win.

“We are pleased to be unbeaten, especially keeping the clean-sheet, which was good for the team. We tried to keep that and we did and we are trying to do that throughout the games in this league.”

The 17-year-old, who was previously with CD Léganes, stepped up in the first half and struck his penalty into the top-left corner of the net.

Briggs was then able to beat the offside trap and get onto the end of a dangerous cross to head home his second and #FCMC’s fourth of the game to secure the three points.

The California-native spoke about how comfortable he is taking the penalties and also believes the team can be fighting to win the league this season.

“I’m always comfortable taking the penalties. If it’s there I’ll take it. For my second goal, I just saw the line pass that the chip was going to happen and you have to expect anything as a striker and I was there for a header.”

Talking about what the team can achieve this season, he continued: “I think we can win this league, especially with the level we put out tonight and intensity we put into the games.”
