De Silva Thrilled With Senior Team Opportunity

Sachin De Silva said he is “proud”, as he is set to make his CD Almuñecar City senior debut this afternoon.

The Swaziland-native, who initially joined #CDAC Under 23s, has impressed during his short time with the club - and has been called up by senior manager Juan Carlos Añon.

“Being promoted to the senior team is a very proud moment,” he said.

“I have been working really hard - so it feels amazing that my efforts have been rewarded.

“My clearance came in on Friday - and as soon as it did, my coach informed me that I will be playing with the first team this weekend.

“It is a really exciting opportunity for me - I’m determined to show what I can offer, and hopefully solidify my place in the team.

De Silva said he is enjoying his time in Spain, and is grateful for the support from his home country.

“My time with the club so far has been a dream,” he said.

“The coaches, people and location are amazing - and I feel like I’m improving a lot every day.

“There isn’t a much better life for me right now.

“My goal in football is to keep learning and growing as a player - on and off the pitch.

“Playing in Spain is already a dream, so if I could progress higher in the divisions then that would be amazing.

“The support from back home in Swaziland is amazing.

“It means the world to know that there are lots of people giving me love - and are on this journey with me.”
