Defender Jason Lee says there is “no doubt” in his mind that CD Almuñecar City can turn their form around and move into the top four of Primera Andaluza (Granada).
Juan Carlos Anoñ's side currently sit seventh in the league table - having picked up nine points from their nine games, and started the new year with a narrow defeat at home to Cúllar Vega last weekend.
Lee, who is currently in his first season playing in Spain, has been an ever-present at the back for #CDAC and knows what the group of players are capable of and that includes getting back to winning ways and closing the gap on the top four.
“I have no doubt in my mind that we can reach the top four,” said Lee. “We’ve proven it every week that we can compete as the better side and we’ve been unlucky.
“Now, we have a much different attitude coming into this half of the season and we’re going to let that go from the first half.
“We’re going to keep pushing forward and I know and I believe in our guys that we can pull together and clinch a place in the top four.”
After falling behind against Cúllar Vega, Luismi stepped up from the penalty spot to equalise and #CDAC went on to close out the game on the front foot.
However, conceding a late penalty condemned #CDAC to a 2-1 loss – their second of the season against Cúllar Vega - and defender Lee believes the team didn’t get what they deserved from the game.
The defender added: “It was really tough luck last weekend. I felt that we were the stronger side out on the field and we knew and know that still and we went right back at it this week.
“We didn’t drop off one bit, kept training real hard in preparation for this derby game, away this time. We can’t take them for granted, it’s going to be a very different game, but I think we can still come together and grab another win.”
The 19-year-old scored the only goal of the game to secure derby success when #CDAC faced neighbours Juventud Sexitana at home in the first half of the season.
Juan Carlos Añón and his team make the short trip to La Herradura on Sunday to face Juventud, who currently sit bottom of the table with just one win from their nine league games.
Nevertheless, Lee isn’t taking anything for granted and knows for a fact that #CDAC need to be at the top of their game if they’re going to secure a league double over their rivals this weekend.
The defender said: “It’s not going to be an easy game because it’s a derby game and everyone comes out on a derby game looking for a win and they don’t want to go away with a loss to their rivals.
“They’re going to really come out for it against us and they did in the game earlier in the season, but I think that we just need to play the way we know how to play and we will be very successful.”
