Embley 'Delighted' After #FCMC Femenino Thrash Puerto de la Torre

Midfielder Rosie Embley expressed her delight as FC Málaga City Femenino moved back top of the league - following an emphatic 5-0 victory over Puerto de la Torre Los Morales.

#FCMC Femenino, who came from behind to draw 2-2 with Puerto de la Torre back in December, went ahead in the first-half through Embley’s strike.

After a evenly-contested first 45 minutes, #FCMC went on to race away from their opponents with four goals in the second-half, and Embley admitted the girls executed the game-plan to perfection.

“We’re all really pleased with today's result,” Embley said.

“The girls were brilliant for 90 minutes, and I’m happy to go back top.

“It was a tough game against a team that we drew against in December. It was a really good win, we executed the game plan well, and played some really good football.

“We won our individual battles, won our 50/50’s, we won the first and second balls, and it was just a really good result.”

Adrián Domínguez Igual's side headed into the game in second place, just one point behind their opponents having played one game less.

Embley admitted that the hard work the team put into training this week paid off on the pitch, and the Crewe-native was “thankful” to get three huge points.

The midfielder added: “All the work we done in the past week was leading towards this game.

“We’ve had the last six days to prepare for it, and everything we’ve been doing in training was geared towards the game.

“That includes our video analysis and what we’ve been working on. We knew it was a huge game because we want that number one spot, and we knew it was going to be difficult against a good side.

“We were all up for it and buzzing for the game, and thankfully got the important three points.”

#FCMC now sit top of the league, with a game in hand of their nearest rivals, Puerto de la Torre. Embley believes the victory will be a “big step” towards promotion.

Embley said: “This was a big step forward towards our goal at the end of the season. It was a hard game, but the hardest is yet to come.

“We’ve got to focus on finishing phase one and getting a few more wins on the board to put us in a good spot going into phase two of the season.”
