Striker Javi Anaya admitted he’s feeling “very focused” - as league-leaders FC Malaga City Senior face AD Malaka this afternoon.
#FCMC Senior have two games remaining in the first part of the season - and will be looking to gain maximum points as they look to stay ahead of the chasing pack.
Adrian Domínguez Igual’s team currently have 31 points from their 16 games this season - after securing a 4-0 victory over UD Algarrobo last weekend.
Anaya admitted it has been a “pleasure” to have a good run in the team, and complimented the group on and off the pitch.
“I feel very confident with the team,” Anaya said.
“We are in the best possible position as a group and altogether we are like a family right now.
“We train very hard. We trust everyone in our group and we have a common purpose – to get promoted.
“As a group, we are very focused on that and giving 100 per cent every day.
"We’ve got a very good head coach in Adrian Domínguez and a great coaching staff, it’s a complete team. Everyone helps everyone and we want to get promoted.”
“It’s really pleasing to me that head coach puts me in the starting 11. All I do is give my best to help them the team try and get the win each week.
“I will run and I will fight to the end. I know my quality and I know what I can do, but it’s a pleasure that the coach puts trust in me to do the job on the pitch alongside my teammates.
#FCMC travel to face a Malaka side who haven’t lost at home all season – picking up five wins and two draws from their seven games at the Municipal de Malaka.
Three points for FC Malaga City Senior would put them one step closer to their target this season, and Anaya knows just how important the next two games are for the team.
The striker said: “We hope to get six points from these next two games because we’ve worked hard every day in training and believe we can get them.
“If we get these six points, we’re going to be in a good position going into the second round with the other four teams out of the other group.
“We are going to fight as much as we can to get these six points - and make sure we have as many points as possible going into the next stage.”
Having been around Primera Andaluza for a lot of his career, Anaya knows what it takes to go through and win promotion to the División de Honor.
The 29-year-old gained promotion with Vélez CF during the 2012/13 season. and then again alongside younger brother Ignacio with UD Torre del Mar two years ago.
“I am sure we can gain promotion", he said.
“I think that we have the quality and the work ethic to do this. We have been working hard for seven months now without stopping.
“The coaches have done very good work with us, physically and mentally - so we feel as if we are ready to push on and get promotion this season.
“We will always keep fighting. We can’t let this opportunity go away and we will give 100 per cent until the very end too.”
As well as playing with #FCMC Senior, Anaya has recently taken up a coaching role with CD Almuñecar U23s as an assistant coach.
The Vélez-Málaga-native has been playing football since he was a young boy, and admitted he is “proud” for taking this next step in the game.
“It is my first time as a coach and I am the assistant to Juanma Bullejos,” Anaya said.
“I am very proud and very motivated because it’s a new sensation for me in the game.
“I have spoken with the boys and I feel very motivated to do well with this team. I have the desire to help the team and help myself as a coach, and to keep learning football in this other way.
“I have always thought that my life is going to be around football. I will play until my body says to stop, but after that I always thought that my life would be in football as a coach or something else within the game.
“As a coach, it’s the best way to keep in football and I am looking forward to seeing how I can grow even more with the club.”
