Danish midfielder William Fleggaard spoke of his excitement ahead of this weekend’s showcase fixture against Getafe CF.
FC Malaga City Under 18s and Under 19s will go head-to-head with the Madrid-based La Liga outfit this Saturday, in two separate clashes.
“Getafe CF are one of the biggest teams in Spain, so it's a massive opportunity to show what we can do as a group,” said Fleggaard.
“We will all put up a fight and do everything we can to get a victory against such a well-established team.
“Not many people have the opportunity to play against teams like this in their careers - so I’m really pleased to be a part of it.
“Everyone in the squad is excited and happy to get the opportunity against such a big team.
“We are all working hard, and we have a big group who all want to make it into the team - so there is a lot of competition between everyone.
“Competition is always a good thing for the team, because it pushes us all to do better and work harder."
Fleggaard joined FC Malaga City Academy at the beginning of the season alongside his brother Olliver - and described his time with the club as “amazing”.
“My first season with FC Malaga City Academy has been amazing,” he continued.
“Playing against teams like Atlético de Madrid and Getafe CF has been a fantastic experience - and I wouldn't get opportunities like that anywhere else.
“I can feel how much I have developed this season as a player with training everyday.
“To anyone who wants to take the next step in football, I highly recommend applying to join FC Malaga City Academy.”
