Danish midfielder Olliver Fleggaard admitted there are still “plenty of positives” to take, despite CD Almuñecar City U23s squandering the lead twice in the 3-3 draw at home to CF La Malaha.
The 18-year-old has worked his way up from #FCMC U19s this season - and started in the centre midfield role for #CDAC U23s in their Segunda Andaluza (Granada) match at Rio Verde.
Juanma Bullejos's side were leading 2-0 at half-time, and Fleggaard believes the team showed a new side in the first-half as they executed their game plan “very well”.
“I have a lot of mixed feelings about the game,” Fleggaard said.
“It was very much a game of two halves. We did brilliantly in many aspects of our game in the first half.
“We were focused, brave, and fought all the way through the match - and had the desire to go and win the game.
“We followed our game-plan and it worked very well.
“We also showed a new side to the team in the first half, and it’s a side we can be really proud of.
“The second-half was very different to the first-half. All of us felt like we should’ve won the game, which I completely agree with.
“Even though it didn’t turn out as a win, us feeling we should have won is a step in the right direction, in terms of the mentality that we should all have in the team. It’s now just about the team fighting day-in and day-out.”
Asier De Luz and Alessandro Briggs fired #CDAC U23s into a 2-0 lead at half-time - and after squandering the two-goal advantage in the second-half, Josh Caan restored the lead in the 72nd-minute - but the visitors scored a late equaliser to take a point.
Fleggaard expressed the team's desire to win every game, and despite the “disappointing result” - the Danish midfielder said there are a lot of positives to take from the performance.
“We all want to win,” the midfielder said.
“Being 2-0 up in the game, we all thought that we would get the three points.
“It was a disappointing result, so we will analyse the mistakes we’ve made and we will correct them for the next game.
“We should also not forget that we’ve got a lot of positives to take from the game. We just have to keep moving forward.
“A winning mentality is what we should all have at the club here, every time we step out on that pitch. Three points is mandatory when you’re playing for a club like this.”
Fleggaard joined FC Malaga City Academy last summer after spending two seasons in England - and revealed his delight at being promoted to CD Almuñecar City U23s.
“It’s been a great season for youth stepping up to Under 23s," he continued.
“I’m very happy, it’s my first season at the club, so I’m pleased that I’ve had people that have believed enough in me in order to let me move up to senior football.
“It’s been a great experience, I’ve learnt a lot already and I’m still learning.
“I’m just eager to win games and be the best I can at everything I do.”
