Defender Luismi Peralta described conceding the last-minute winner as “heartbreaking” - as CD Almuñécar City suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cúllar Vega.
The 20-year-old full-back stepped up under pressure and powered home a penalty just 10 minutes after falling behind in the second-half, but there was a sting in the tail in additional time.
The visitors scored from the spot-kick and completed the double over #CDAC this season and Peralta believes the team deserved to take something from the game.
“It’s very heartbreaking to concede in the last minute,” Peralta said. “I thought we played well, but in the end, that’s football. They used their experience to win that penalty.
“I thought we deserved to take something from the game, but as I say, they used their experience to win the game.”
After going on a run of six games without a win, Juan Carlos Añón’s side snapped that by scoring four goals and keeping a clean-sheet at home to CD Dúrcal.
#CDAC fell behind in the 55th-minute against Cúllar Vega and despite Peralta’s penalty coming, somewhat, against the run of play, the home side went on to close out the game on the front foot.
The defeat leaves CD Almuñecar City on nine points, five points outside of the top four, but Peralta and his teammates continue to believe they can turn their form around and climb the table.
He said: “The team are working very well and I believe in this team.
“I think we need to compete in all of the matches and do the job in attack because we need to score goals. There have been many occasions where we haven’t scored, but I believe in this team.”
CD Almuñecar City return to action next weekend when they travel to face neighbours CD Juventud Sexitana, who currently sit last in the table with one win from their eight games.
