Pomwene Delighted With Derby-Day Victory

CD Almuñecar City midfielder Pokie Pomewene was ‘delighted’ - after the team’s derby-day victory.

#CDAC came out 1-0 winners over local-rivals Juventud Sexitana in La Herradura, and the Namibian expressed the importance of the three points.


“It’s the first win of 2021, and it is a really important one for us,” he said.


“Everybody is really excited and happy - because we understand the importance of the match to our supporters and the club.


“You can see that everybody wanted it together - and every player knew how vital the game was.

“It meant a lot to the team - and we are all delighted.”


Pomwene started the game for Juan Carlos Añon’s side - and was impressed with the overall performance and spirit from the team.


“In the first 60 minutes, we played really well. We were calm, kept the ball, and played intelligently”, he added.

“Towards the end it was more of a grind - there was lots of fight and heart on show from the group.


“It meant a lot to the players - and we are really pleased.


"The atmosphere in the dressing room after the game was brilliant."


“We will continue working hard as a group, and remain focused.


"We know that things can change quickly in football, so we need to keep calm and work towards our goals.”
