Defender Imran Abdul Rahman praised a “dominant” performance, as FC Malaga City U19s beat CD Almuñecar City U23s 2-0 in Nerja.
The Malaysian defender joined FC Malaga City Academy at the beginning of the 2020/21 season.
Imran has been a regular for #FCMC Under 19s so far this campaign, and was named in Sean Morris’ starting line-up this morning.
“I think we played really well today,” he said.
“As a defender, I am naturally pleased to get a clean sheet.
“We moved the ball brilliantly as a team and dominated possession throughout the game.
“Perhaps we could have finished some more chances, but I am really proud of the team in securing the victory.” The full-back revealed he has enjoyed the season so far, as he settles into his new home over 10,000 kilometres away from his family.
“This season has been really exciting for the team so far,” he continued.
“It has been great to see my teammates getting trials with high-level clubs, and some moving into men’s professional football.
“As a group, we continue to work hard - week in week out - and are seeing more positive results.
“It’s been a relatively easy process settling into life with FC Malaga City Academy.
“It has been amazing to meet so many different people from around the world that have the same goals and the passion for football as I do.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of lads to share the field with - it has been really enjoyable.
“My goal is to hopefully stay in Europe and sign for a professional club - and continue to grow as a player on and off the pitch.”
