Villaflor Feeling 'Confident' Ahead of Atletismo Padul Clash

Midfielder Benny Villaflor revealed CD Almuñecar City U23s are feeling “very confident” - ahead of this evening's meeting with second-place Atletismo Padul.

Villaflor played in the highest youth league in the United States before moving to Spain last summer, and has made an impact with #CDAC U23s so far this season.

The Hawaii-native has one goal and three assists to his name this campaign - and is hoping the hard work the team have put in on the training pitch will show this evening.

“I’m very confident due to our preparation, hard work day-in and day-out and guidance from our coach,” Villaflor said.

“We have a tough game ahead, but our group is made for tough situations and opponents.

“The league comes with so many challenges and teams with different styles. To get good results it’s about playing our way, but also adapting to the game at hand.

“We are still fighting as hard as we can.”

#CDAC U23s have picked up 11 points from 11 games this season - but lost the first fixture against Atletismo Padul 2-1 at Rio Verde.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has set himself targets for the rest of the season, one of which is to progress further as a player in Europe.

“What I came for is exactly what I got - to experience and grow my game in Spain," he added.

"It’s much different from back home because of the tactical, technical and even physical advancement here.

“This year I would just like to get as much playing experience in this country as possible and test myself in every facet of the game.

“I also came here with a goal to make great relationships and learn the language, that is going quite well.”
